As the first light of dawn peeked through the window, I awoke with a heavy heart, knowing that this day marked the end of an era. My IB board exams were over and it was my last day at Doon School, the place I had called home for the past six unforgettable years. The bittersweet reality of bidding farewell to the halls that sheltered my dreams and the friends who had become my family weighed heavily upon me. Emotions swirled within, mingling joyous memories with a profound sadness.

The day began unusually early. Long before the sun rose, I tiptoed out of bed, cherishing those few precious moments of solitude. The world outside was calm and serene, a reflection of the years spent in this cherished institution. The familiar scent of freshly brewed milk permeated the air, drawing me towards the house pantry for my last ever cup of Chota Hazri. Every sip carried a myriad of emotions, each taste tinged with nostalgia as I thought about the first time I sat in that very same spot six years ago.

As the morning progressed, I found myself seeking solace in the presence of my beloved teachers. These pillars of wisdom had guided me through the trials and tribulations of adolescence, instilling in me values that would shape my character for a lifetime. With gratitude and a hint of melancholy, I sought out each significant teacher, offering heartfelt words of appreciation and bidding them farewell. The warmth in their eyes mirrored the profound impact they had on my life.

Taking one last walk through the hallowed corridors, I felt a surge of pride and melancholy intertwine. Memories danced before my eyes, painted on the walls that had witnessed our triumphs and failures. The familiar sights and sounds were etched deep within my soul, forever a part of who I had become. With every step, I cherished the countless rounds I had made, knowing that these paths would forever hold a special place in my heart.

As the sun climbed higher, the courtyard became alive with laughter and camaraderie. Gathering with my closest friends, we shared stories of our adventures, laughter echoing through the air. We reminisced about the mischievous pranks we had pulled, the late-night study sessions that turned into moments of bonding, and the countless memories we had woven into the very fabric of our beings. Tears mixed with laughter as we acknowledged that our paths would soon diverge.

Sitting together one last time, we swam in the shared experiences that had moulded us into a tight-knit family. The echoes of our laughter filled the air, carrying with it the echoes of countless conversations and unspoken bonds. In that moment, time stood still, as if desperately trying to hold onto the magic that had been created within these walls. We knew that we were about to embark on new journeys, yet the weight of parting tugged at our hearts.

As the dreaded hour came closer, emotions threatened to overwhelm me. The sun cast a golden glow across the campus, as if bidding farewell in its own silent way. Amidst hugs, tears, and promises to stay connected, I took one last look at the place I had called home. Doon, with its grandeur and grace, had not only nurtured my mind but had also fostered the growth of my spirit. Leaving behind a piece of my heart, I walked away with a profound sense of gratitude and a lifetime of memories.

The last day at Doon School was a poignant reminder that life is a tapestry woven with countless threads of joy and sorrow. As I embark on a new chapter, I carry with me the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the indomitable spirit that had been ignited within these hallowed walls. Though the farewell brought tears to my eyes, it also instilled in me the courage to embrace the unknown and the hope of creating new memories, knowing that Chandbagh would forever remain a cherished home in my heart.
